So King George had a stutter, and he found some guy who could help him. Yippee?

  He then went on to kill Hitler single-handed.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

The Kings Speech

Huh. I certainly enjoyed the movie, but am at a loss as to explain it winning awards. The acting was excellent, the direction flawless, all the technical aspects of movie making (as far as I could tell) were pretty much perfect.

But after it is all over, I was kind of left with a feeling of "Yeah....great...what was the point of all that again?" It was like a perfectly executed documentary on something that really isn't all that interesting.

So King George had a stutter, and he found some guy who could help him. Yippee?
I don't mind character studies and this was a pretty good one.  However, I thought the pacing of the direction was off - it was either glacial or a sprint.  Agree that 'award-winning" seems a strange adjective for films like this, but it was a weak year in pictures, and this was at least as deserving as anything else I saw, and more than most.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar

Saw The Queen's Sister, about Liz's sister Margaret.  Drinks a lot, fucks a lot, sings some songs.  Phillip is presented as the responsible one, which sort of surprised me.

Question for the Angles and Jutes: are Margaret's kids by the photog chap in the line of succession?

Not sure who the man you're on about is and no expert on her but the two kids of hers I know about are in the line of succession.

What version did you see?
As in the original cut all her scenes are edited out.

You know, that would make more sense.  I just saw her name in the credits and assumed she had died her hair blonde and was playing the cheerleader.  Even though they look nothing alike.

What part did Ms. Boyle have before she got cut out in editing?

katmai

She played sister of one of the boys.
Had three scenes according to google search.

Side note :First paying job I ever had in business was a film directed by one of the kids in the class.

Is that typical Hollywood practice to leave her in the credits when she doesn't make the cut?

Just finished Eden of the East- it took two days.

It was absolutely wonderful.

You should have just watched East of Eden.  Shorter and almost certainly better.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

:x  I did actually watch that once.  When I was younger and stupider.   Dana Delany was hot though.

I may or may not have spanked to that in my younger days. But I was under the influence of drugs.
