"Здесь кто-то есть" ("There is someone here") - Russian drama/horror series, about a family that moves into a haunted house with stereotypical child ghosts (one friendly and protective, yet enigmatically spooky boy, and the evil bitch-girl that wants to kill everyone).  Everyone but the dad sees some level of the paranormal, so naturally he thinks everyone else is crazy, so family gets split apart.

The overall plot is a bit of a retread, but compared to most Russian series's I've seen, this one is actually rather entertaining(and better than the plethora of bad soap operas)...and also rather accessible to a non-native such as myself.  Unlike many Russian shows/movies I watch, I actually understand/follow it quite well, which is actually a first for me (especially as I don't have subtitles for this show).

Nah.  The protagonists on this show seem to be wealthy-ish, spoiled, not-quite-oligarchs.  If I were to judge based solely on television programming alone, I'd say that Russia is perhaps easing into decadent crypto-fascist capitalism.  Perhaps on a Chilean/Pinochet or Spanish/Franco level.

If I was to judge Russia on its porn, I'd assume that all women get raped there.

That is probably true.  I think it's fair to judge a country by it's porn.  Japanese pornography has certainly informed my opinion of that crazy ass nation.
