Books of Blood. Some loosely connected tales of horror. It's fine, but then I've always liked collection movies like Two-Fisted Tales etc.

I saw Two-Fisted Tails, but that was probably a different film in a different genre.

I don't know. What happened in that one?

Finally watched WandaVision. It was amazing and I'm totally pumped to watch Dr. Strange and the Multiverse of Madness
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Season 2 of The Witcher is a marked improvement over season 1. A welcome surprise.

I was coming here to post the opposite  :D  I am only three episodes in and the only thing that keeps me going is that by the end of season 1 I really enjoyed it.  Mind you only three episodes into season 1 I was also ready to stop watching, but others convinced me otherwise.

Well, the second half of the season has more urgency to it, if that's what you feel the show is lacking. I happen to have enjoyed the first half more though.  :P

I did like that the Germans spoke German, though I didn't see any close enough shots to say if the actors did. :)

I was sure you would like the attention to detail in the film with
the golden rope to hang the pope by the lutheran German mercenaries. Don't remember if there are "Luther papst! shouts" by the same mercenaries.
:P

I stopped 3 episodes in. Convince me to pick it up again?

If season 1 is where you stopped - the beginning episodes don't make much sense until you get further into the season - I don't want to spoil anything for you by explaining more.  :)

Finished (?) Dopesick. It's good.

Coyote Ugly. Young woman leaves grumpy dad with a heart of gold to seek fortune in the big city, meets creepy stalker with a heart of gold, starts working for hard driving bar owner with a heart of gold, and befriends erotic dancers with hearts of gold. In its defense at least the movie maintains a heavy focus on the bar dance scenes, which are the whole point of the movie, and never strays too far from this. Is this a good movie? No. But a more relevant question I think is "is this an important movie"? Again, no.

DG can correct me, but my guess is that bar chicks in Bumfuck, NJ don't generally all maintain model-level BMIs.

Hey, enjoyed the WoT finale quite a bit. Easily the best episode of the show. Looking forward to season 2.

Funny how the Witcher and this share a couple of plot points.
Moiraine/Yennifer losing their power and Ciri/Rand being tempted by a vision of their desired lives
less funny is how they're just making up shit.

I was up late last night and rando watched Atonement.

It was really fucking good.

I found some scenes were a bit cinematically over the top though - like the point of the scene was to showcase some idea the director had about a cool scene, rather then the cinematography serving the scene. But whatever.

Kind of sad for sure, but very good overall.

'Don't Look Up' - a great satire, excellent turns from Streep, Blanchette and Rylance who do battle to see who can steal the movie from De Caprio.   :)

I really enjoyed the - it feels like a standard "Christmas on the BBC" thing now - Mark Gatiss' adaptation of MR James' ghost story, The Mezzotint.

Only half an hour long. Very good performances from Rory Kinnear and a Frances Barber (who I saw the Guardian, rightly, said "takes thngs right up to the ham line and no further"). Not sure it needed the ending it had but that worked.
