Myself, I am sympathetic to "where are they getting all that oil from and at what price" nitpickery, though I can see why most people would consider it trivial.

You are in good company, if the number of complaints about the soldiers' buttons used in Gettysburg is any indication.

Everybody has their own standards on that kind of thing.  I'd rather the movie just skipped the long scene of the USS Enterprise entering Pearl Harbor on Dec 8th 1941, if it's going to have a Ticonderoga-class cruiser in the background.

And, as you have probably guessed, it drives me nuts to hear movies or shows talk about having their hero win "the Congressional Medal of Honor."

That those things don't bother other people doesn't bother me.

Obviously the economics of oil lamps in a fantasy setting is unknown and to nitpick on it is stupid, but to use lamps in that fashion shows that the show is going for an unrealistic feel.

As I said, I want my historic/fantasy shows to be more LotR, GoT, Wolf Hall, Maximilian, See(borderline), The King, the Expanse, Battlestar Galactica and so on. Great rather new productions that are probably ripe with historic/economic errors, but that capture a feel for the age/setting and feels like a real believable world.

Shows like Black Flag, Xena, Legend of the Seeker, mumble mumble struggling to remember names, you know what I mean, and so on are far more fantasy, showy, colourful and quite unbelievable. I just don't like those shows and I for sure hope that the new LotR goes more Wolf Hall than Xena. WoT, based on two rather casual viewing of a teaser trailer seems to go the Xena direction. Hopefully I'm wrong and it'll be great.

Not for nothing, but that observation is why I don't agree with Threviel and his evaluation.

When I think Xena, and the "theme" he is objecting to, that is exactly what I think of - plate mail bikinis and such. Where the asthetic is just silly.

I don't see that in this trailer. I think the asthetic is a bit amateurish, but not silly.

We have spent way too much energy on a couple trailers. I am definitely going to watch the first episode when it drops, so I guess they succeeded in that anyway!

I'd watch Wheel of Cheese. Time not so much.

I must say that's my biggest hate in TV and films. I can't stand it when things are too dark. Big reason why I don't really rate the Nolan batmans.

I basically lost interest in "Rise of Skywalker" at the end because I couldn't see what anyone was doing.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Plate armour intended to be absurdly sexy, emphasizing sexual characteristics, is not so unrealistic after all ... modern film-makers just got the wrong sex!

I don't hate the Batman movies, but I hate the trend. Battlestar Galactica and Stargate Universe were awful for this.  I felt like I needed a flashlight on the screen.

That's how I feel about video games.

Yeah. That sucks too. "Adjust the slider until you can just barely see the game logo" = OK. Let's put this all the way to the right so it's shining.

I get it in older and horror games that it's part of the gameplay in itself but there's just no excuse in action games. Assassins creed I remember being pretty shit for this.
