In "Are you feeling old yet?" news: the finale of Star Trek: Voyager aired yesterday 20 years ago in the US. :P

Wow! I do feel kinda old then! I used to watch that show all the time, along with all the Star Trek spin offs - DS9 was a favorite. I sometimes watch old Voyager shows when I find them. DS9 on occasion though haven't seen that around very much.

I watch the occasional episode on Netflix these days (they have here TOS, TNG, Animated series, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise and Discovery on Netflix, Picard and Lower Decks on Amazon).

This is why I stopped playing football. Didn't want to miss Monday Sci fi.
Ah to have been born in a later age.

Couldn't you have recorded it with your VCR?

I never had a VCR growing up. Skipped entirely over that technology.

I am so old.

VCR was how western movies entered my generation's life in our childhood in the second half of the 80s. It was a big deal.

My dad had bought a beta in the early 80s and he never recovered enough from that humiliation to buy a VHS vcr. We had cable instead.

I rarely used a TV recorder until I got cable. I had something years ago, but rarely used.

Other "are you feeling old yet" stuff:  of the six friends sitting around the table in the last episode of B5, only Bruce Boxleitner and Claudia Christian are still alive.  Mira Furlen, Jerry Doyle, Richard Biggs, and Stephen Furst have all gone beyond the rim (as has Jeff Conaway, the only other regular whose character was sill around in the last episode).

Of the actors whose characters were killed off, only Andreas Katsulas has gone BTR.

B5 has an extraordinary amount of actors dying relatively young, including Michael O'Hara.

Rewatching *Howl's Moving Castle* with my kid ... I find it very interesting that Miyazaki is so interested in fantasy settings that are loosely based on Central Europe.

I guess this would be the Japanese equivalent of a European filmmaker setting their fantasies in a loosely Japanese setting.

The quality sucked.
And had to trust my family not to change the sky channel.
No repeats later in the week in those days....

But yes. Very dumb. And I likely exaggerate that being the only reason. But it is striking to me how this is a problem modern kids just won't have.

Amazon buys MGM for $8.5 billion. The studio has been on life support since the 1980s (fun fact: one of my master's professors was a producer in Heaven's Gate), so I guess they are just buying whatever it's left from their library (the sold large swathes of it to get out of bankruptcy), and IPs.

Yeah it was always a bit of a leap of faith wasn't it? You would set your VCR to record but often you messed it up somehow or somebody would screw it up unknowingly later. Or, on one of the main channels like CBS or NBC, it would be delayed due to breaking news or a sporting event and your recording got that instead.

Casting looks good to me. :) I especially approve of Stephen Fry as Gilbert. :D

Seems they're missing someone.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Glad I can use the proper pronouns when addressing or discussing these fictional characters.
