Three episodes into The Stand. Was really looking forward to this, but am somewhat underwhelmed thus far. Not sure the non-linear approach is working for me.

The Meg.

Made in China.
End of story.
I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

If Microsoft Excel decided to stop working overnight, the world would practically end.

Sheilbh

New series of Line of Duty.

It is nonsense, of course, but enjoyable nonsense

Better or worse than the 90s version (which I liked, actually)?

So, I saw there's an adaptation of the Truth About Harry Quebert. I watched a couple eps and it's decent, but the fact they are attempting to pass Patrick Dempsey as a 30 year old who's having an affair with a 15-year old makes it even more creepy

How can you tell the character is only 30?  :hmm:
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Oexmelin

Because it's taken from a novel.
Que le grand cric me croque !

The Brain

Women want me. Men want to be with me.

The 90s version was very good. As is the book

The book had a whole lot of silly in it, especially after they got out of the cities.

Yes, I thought as a book adaptation it did, surprisingly, not suck, despite some changes and condensing some of the plot, and they had a very 90s TV cast. :)

Josquius

The book started decent though I stopped reading about halfway through as it went off into silly supernatural man gathering all the bad people to attack mystic mammy.

I thought the orphanage stuff was some of the best part.

Same, especially the small personal tragedy that is revealed later on
with both not getting to see Mr. Shaibel or paying him back
.

Yup - it is key to her developing her humanity.

I love the way they depicted her character in this show. They don't tell you that she has been traumatized and that this has damaged her. They show you her flaws and how she manages to overcome them, at cost, with the help of other people.

I think her relationship with Mr. Shaibel is the best part. He helps her, but even as a kid, he refuses to take her crap - he gives her the respect of taking her seriously, which includes not putting up with her bad behaviour. In turn, they beautiful depict his mixture of excitement and almost fear as he realizes just what her abilities are.

I've really enjoyed this, so thanks for everyone recommendations.

I especially like the way her and the adoptive mother's relationship developed, somewhat complex and depicted subtly.
