365. Career woman on vacation in Sicily gets kidnapped by hunky mafia boss, but he won't touch her until she wants him to. There are some moments of a movie
and the ending is actually decent
, but it's essentially an upgraded Europorno.

I am onto the last episode of white lines.
Everyone seems to love this. From the writer of money heist. Super ibiza DJ guy was murdered many years ago and his body has turned up. His sister with an awful fake accent comes over to investigate what happened with various local mobsters and rivals . Hijinks and boobs ensue. It is not good. Such a struggle to watch. It all feels so plodding and contrived.

Define everyone. You are the first person I've heard mention it.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

Not yet, I plan to see it during lunch. Don't say anything!

Savonarola

CB and I have been watching "Old School Sesame Street."  The show comes with a little disclaimer in the beginning that the show might not be appropriate for today's pre-schoolers.  Some of the intro film show children riding a horse bareback, riding bikes without helmets, playing in construction sites and one even has a child jumping up and down on a bare set of box springs.  At the time no one thought anything of it (in fact it looks like a lot of fun); but today it would probably get your parents thrown in jail.

The show is supposed to be a progressive vision of urban America; it's interesting to see how that from 50 years ago.  Gordon was cast because the series needed a strong black male; but for the first five years of the show his wife was a homemaker.  For the first two seasons of the show there were no Hispanics.  Will Lee (who, incidentally, had been blacklisted during the red scare) was cast as Mr. Hooper because an elderly Jewish shop owner would have been familiar to most children from New York City.

They have some celebrity guests on the show.  Hank Aaron and Jackie Robinson teach children how to count.  Jesse Jackson has a group of children recite the Reverend William Borders poem "I Am Somebody." Uplifting as the poem is, it is hard to get past his medalion:

I'm pretty sure that's what a Medallion of ESP looks like.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Folk at work.
It's in the top 10 Netflix trending list so doubt they're outliers.

50 Shades Freed. Anyone who makes it this far in the 50 Shades saga knows what to expect. There are actually a few isolated decent moments in the movie though.

Is Secret Window any good? I read the short story many years ago, and I know that Johnny Depp CAN work in a movie when he doesn't retreat into his safe space of heavily made-up flamboyantly "quirky"characters.

Spiderman Far From Home - Basically Iron Man 3 crossed with Eurotrip. And about as good as that sounds.
I do like the J Jonah Jameson as infowars though

Ad Astra. Was surprised I never even heard of this. A sort of cross between 2001 and Apocalypse Now.

I thought it was really good....well until about halfway through. Till around the monkeys. And entering the rocket from the bottom, and....well, then it got bad, very quickly.

Movie theaters are opening again. Gartenbau is doing a Mad Max/Road Warrior double feature next Saturday. And Beyond Thunderdome/Fury Road the week after. :hmm:
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

Hehe, yeah, that was really odd. Movie started out good but became underwhelming by the middle and ending.
I didn't understand why the base commander felt Pitt's character should go, made the risk to get him onto the ship, since Pitt just did what the original crew was going to do in blowing up the rogue ship. I guess so he could try and save his father if still alive. But the original crew would have found the father if they also were to  board the rogue ship to place the nuke. Then Pitt's character seemed to face no issues after it was all done. The crew of the ship he boarded died mainly due to his actions.
