Indeed.  They were all-American Pattons.

Actually, there were some Bradleys on scene and an M1 at one time.  But those people deserved them.

Finished watching The Punisher. It's not perfect but I certainly enjoyed it - I think it's Netflix's most compelling superhero show since Luke Cage. I think those series just work much better when they mix up social commentary with superhero shenanigans in a way that feels natural to the characters - like in the aforementioned Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and now Punisher. Now, the writing isn't on par with the two, but they get a B for effort.

My biggest caveat, besides the usual "Netflix should cut 2-3 episodes of all those superhero series", is that I really don't buy that
the CIA/DHS let Castle go with a pat on the back at the end of the series - they just set a mass-murdered free. This ties on the bigger issue that the show tries to be morally/politically ambiguous - which is something I can find compelling, the show is critical of right-wing nationalism while at the same time being unabashedly pro-gun and forgiving Castle's actions - but it really doesn't have good enough writing to render it successfully. For example, if the idea was to bring the character of agent Madani to Castle's side due to her own personal drama and thirst for revenge... well you could make that work, but right now that's not on the screen.
Nonetheless, I greatly appreciate that this show tries not to be "easy", even if it's not always successful at it. That said, it does have some brilliant moments in it.

The ludicrously bloody action scenes are something you don't get to see often nowadays in TV, and Castle's personal drama - fueled by Bernthal's amazing performance - is compelling.

Also, went to watch Justice League. Harmless but completely forgettable. It was so forgettable that I spent half the movie paying more attention to how Elfman reused the old (and great) Batman theme from the Burton movies  than what was going on the screen.

Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

He also blends in the Williams' Superman Theme as well.  I still consider the Justice League/Justice League Unlimited cartoon as the pinnacle of DC efforts to put their heroes in motion outside of a comic book page.  Which reminds me, I want to track down the animated The Brave and The Bold series as I hear it's filled with a lot of Silver Age goodness.

There is this as well.

Went and saw Thor: Ragnarok last night.

You know as an overall story I think we've seen it a half dozen times or more.  Big baddie trying to destroy the world, heroes unite to save it, massive CGI-fest battles.

What saves it is going full comedy.  Two thumbs up.
Posts here are my own private opinions.  I do not speak for my employer.

Watched most of Elle the other night.  This is a French movie and it's kind of weird.

Isabelle Hubbert, a snappy looking French granny, is the daughter of a notorious mass murderer and the owner of a video game developer.  As is the wont of snappy French grannies, she fucks around a lot.  Then she gets raped in her house, and eventually finds out the identity of her rapist.  And naturally, this being a weird French movie, they start up a relationship and he rapes her a couple more times.

I bailed out before any possible big reveal at the end which could presumably have helped this make sense.

A Verhoeven film?  Of course it is fucked up/senseless.
