I stopped reading it once new stuff started coming out because I wouldn't get Disney Plus. Feels like that might change

I feel that if you're going to have 2 streaming services, Disney+ should be one of those two (the other probably still Netflix).

I started watching Schmigadoon. Its got some real laugh out loud bits. The songs drag a bit even with the snarky comments from the main characters, I guess the joke would grow old with time, but at 6 episodes it seems great.

Here, stare at The Batusi for 3 hours instead.  Obviously closer to your comprehension level.

So decided to check out Undone, Raphael Bob-Waksberg's show on Amazon Prime. The rotoscoping takes a bit of getting used to, but two episodes in I'm digging it. :)

1989 Batman is way better.

Sophie Scholl

Batman '89 aged like milk. I watched it a few months ago and was shocked how awful it was.
"Everything that brought you here -- all the things that made you a prisoner of past sins -- they are gone. Forever and for good. So let the past go... and live."

"Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did."

I was taunting him, IIRC he hates it  :P

1989 has aged badly. I still dig the hell out of the soundtrack and the set design, but the story is pretty bad, and Nicholson is... not good. Batman Returns I will defend to my dying breath though, Burton had full control over that one and it's a delight.

Sophie Scholl

The score and soundtrack are both amazing and the dark art deco designs introduced that B:TAS took to a whole new world is good, too. As you say though, the rest is awful. I haven't seen Returns. I was afraid to watch it after having all my happy memories of '89 turn out to be almost entirely rose colored glasses wearing nostalgia.

Returns is extremely Burton-y, so it definitely depends on how you feel about his style/themes. I do think it's firmly in the second tier of his best films though.

Josquius

Agreed 89 didn't age well. It's in an uncomfortable middle between the awesome fun of real batman (Adam west) and the grittier Dark Knight.

I like The Boys, if we had real god-like humans they'd be far closer to how they are depicted there than in the various children's stories that have become the main form of entertainment the last decade.

Syt

Sure, but I don't need that brand of meanspiritedness in my escapist entertainment media at the moment. :P

Yeah, that's the whole point of the show imho. I like it.

That's different! Somehow! :P

Actually, I'd argue that BoJack, at its core is not mean-spirited at all. Depressing, yes. And BJ is a terrible person. But I felt the characters' emotional lives and how they deal with their actions and consequences were a lot more "real" than a number of drama shows or grimdark action pieces.
