Yeah, haven't read the books, but I somehow can't see that 1910/20s Sword&Planet stuff can be made into a faithful movie if it has "DISNEY" attached to it, considering that the original material is probably all kinds of politically incorrect by Hollywood mainstream standards these days.

Oh, and I preferred Hunchback over Lion King. :P

Of course you do;  you're an antisemitic European.

I guess John Carter will be about as entertaining as the Godzilla remake and the Transformers movies.

Does anyone know if "John Carter of Mars" is worth watching? The labels "Disney" and "3D" are a bit offputting.

The buzz is that it will be a catastrophy. I suspect it will be a decent evening out and worth watching in a theater. And it's changed name to "John Carter" since studio execs have no sci fi credentials.
Yeah.  From what I've read the studio are stressing about it.  It had a huge budget and a relatively unknown director and cast.  It's not got any geek excitement going (and apparently they've tried to court that), Disney isn't a studio associated with the sort of film it looks like it'll be and there's been numerous changes to the name in an attempt to find a 'market'.

It could be great, but it looks like it was made by committee.  Badly.

When I first saw the trailer, I felt that it would be worth watching.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Wouldn't the more natural Disney movie to compare John Carter with be Tarzan?

John Carter....even if it was great it seems destined to flop.
I say the odds are it won't be great.
Hopefully it'll be so bad its good in a Battlefield Earth sort of way.

I've watched the first season/series of Black Books.

I like it.

That's my second favourite show of all time, just after Arrested Development.

Dale's arguments were the best of the group's--primarily because the other's arguments amounted to "But something might happen if we don't kill him!".

I kinda figured he would have to die soon to open the way up for the group to start doing worse things, but I didn't think it would be in the very same episode that he makes it clear to them how fucked up they're acting.

I didn't find his arguments convincing (finally had a chance to watch the episode). After all, he struck me as someone who was unable to deal with their present reality.  Their civilization was over and it is truly survival of the fittest for them.

One thing I do find interesting though - I wonder if the kid would really be so against them if they didn't do everything in their power to make sure that he'll flee rejoin his former crew if he gets loose. :D

I no longer concern myself with such plebian actors such as Mister Cera.
