Martinus

I heard it mentioned several times lately and it feels like my homo education is lacking for not knowing it.

What is it?

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Oh it's meant to be a great film, though I've never seen it.

Edit:  I don't understand why it's a gay thing though

Good one.
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

So's the story of Colonel Gadafi and Maggie Thatcher, not to mention Jesus Christ.  Doesn't mean they're of especial interest to queens.

There's an opera about Angela Merkel. :)

There's one about Richard Nixon too.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

The difference between that one and the Gadafi, Maggie and probably Merkel ones, is that it's good.

Speaking of "gay interest", today I was shopping at a Polish equivalent of Virgin/HMV megastore and they had a movie section titled "Arthouse Cinema/Musicals". For some reason it had "Thelma & Louise" in it.

They may have titled it "Movies for Gays" instead. :P

I got "Thelma & Louise", "Run Lola Run" and "Sound of Music".
