Forgive my stupidity, what is Laconia?

Alatriste

Sparta ('laconic' comes from Laconia because Spartans were supposedly men of very few words... )

Interesting.  I dinnae know that.

(They sure wouldn't shut up in 300.)

Greece trip would be Laconia, with side trips to Mycenae, Mystra (shut up Spellus), Olympia and a quickie up to the pass.

Monemvasia is well worth a visit if you are going to Laconia. Further north, in the Argolid, there are the ruins of Epidauros; there is an almost perfectly preserved ancient theatre there, in the summer they put on the old classics in that very theatre......very atmospheric and highly recommended

Ed Anger

Argos? The ghost of Cleomenes would kick my ass for visiting there. :P

I'll keep Monemvasia in mind.  :)

It looks like the average temperature is pretty close between Greece and Ohio.  It is probably more humid in Ohio as well.

That average is suspiciously low  :hmm:

Either Greece cools down a lot after August is over or the Greeks have fiddled with the figures  :P

Ed Anger

Typical sneaky greeks.

Anyways anything in the 90's Fahrenheit is nothing to me.

I got them from here, which shows a good drop from August to Sept.

Ah.....ok, that's some sort of average for the day. This page gives the typical min/max :

Greece lost out to Paris and a side trip to Normandy.

Plus the chance for both of us to take a piss on Jim Morrison's grave? Romantic.
