Painting a senator as a victim of those around them is a conspiracy.  If Diane Feinstein wanted to have an independent thought, she could.  Her vote is an expression of her agency.  Her choice of office staff is an expression of her agency.  Her choice to follow or not follow advice given to her by her staff is an expression of her agency.

Senators and congressmen are not victims, they are principles.

I predicted a Harris win with over 300 EV and +10 million votes differential.

It seems my trust in the yanks' common sense was, once more, misplaced.

It could also be paying more attention to what you want to be true, and less attention to what you don't want to be true. 

Not everything is cognitive dissonance or groupthink or whatever. Sometimes you just get it wrong. It's also not my country, I don't live there, don't get the vibe of it and pay it less attention than other subject matters.
