What? Free helicopter rides?

I think that's a term now used in right-wing circles for the murder of undesirables, inspired by events in South America.  I'm sure Derspeiss can tell you more.

Is it really?  Sounds legit, but I hadn't heard of that one yet.

I think I read about it for Chile - they'd take opponents of the regime in a helicopter over the ocean and dump them out.

Never heard it used in a north american context though.  Believe it or not right-wingers are actually opposed to straight-up murdering people.

They let poor healthcare do it for them :P

I've heard about it. I've also heard it being used as an interrogation tactic during the Vietnam War. Just never heard "free helicopter rides" in that context.

given that healthcare in Canada is a provincial responsability, funded by the Federal government, a government who just announced he would be cutting in half health-transfers, I'd say the left is just as guilty as the right for poor healthcare.

I'm no Trudeau fan, but come on - he isn't cutting health transfers in half - he's cutting the rate of increase in health transfers in half (from 6% increases to 3%).

allright, I skipped ahead to the 2020 budget.  You'll see, he'll borrow from the Chrétien's playbook to rebalance the budget :)

you don't want them to raise taxes, and you don't want them to cut spending, you're never happy :P

He's already stealing from Chretien's playbook - cutting the rate of future increases.  Chretien never made actual cuts in transfer payments.

Gotta love baseline budgeting, where "cuts" can still be actual increases in spending.

I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Beeb's statement would've been more accurate if it'd said "most rightwingers are opposed to outright murdering people."

Maximus

"Right" and "left" are barely useful terms in politics and even less so when used across contexts.

Well at least "some".
