I would have thought a group as much into numbers as 538 would have provided a little more actual data.  I only clicked on one of the wiki-style links, so maybe someone more patient or diligent than me found something.

Following up Veep's comments, they don't seem to account for non-violent actions such as blocking traffic.

There seems to have been a bit of a situation at the House today, as members of Congress have to pass a metal detector to enter the building as a new security measure:

QuoteCongresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) is refusing to comply with the metal detector or allow a bag search. Now standing in the House doorway. Security is refusing to allow her to enter. Appears to be a standstill.

This newly elected congresswoman is a QAnon supporter and gun nut that did a video affirming that she intended to carry her Glock to Congress, as apparently members of the Congress are exempted from the Capitol ban on firearms. During the assault on the Capitol she was found out to be tweeting information about Pelosi's location.

Congress will be overthrown long before a vote goes to the House floor.

Buckle up, buttercups.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Well, this is interesting.

Way I read it: the US military will *not* support any Trumpite coup (or at least, its top brass will not).

Sad that it has come to pass that this is even necessary to be said. Heartening that it was said. Without the support of the military, a violent coup has no chance, I would think.

Maybe a little. I mean, doing your job is no great act of patriotism, nor is telling a toddler "no" a feat of bravery. But he did make some crazy people cross with him, so that counts for something.

Giving out locations during a violent incident, how is she not arrested?

CNN is saying that if McConnell throws his weight behind impeachment then there are "almost certainly" enough votes in the Senate to convict: https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/12/politics/mcconnell-impeachment-trump-capitol-riot/index.html

QuoteSeveral GOP sources said on Tuesday that if McConnell supports conviction, Trump almost certainly will be convicted by 67 senators in the impeachment trial.
"If Mitch is a yes, he's done," said one Senate GOP source who asked not to be named.
Many Republican senators are staying quiet about whether they'll back conviction -- a sign that they, too, could support conviction in an effort to rid Trump from their party.

the data is incomplete, we do not know if violence from police was justified or not.  Last summer, in BLM protests in Washington, it certainly wasn't justified.  But if you look at many other protests by BLM, the police intervened only when violence was elevated a notch by the protesters.  Throwing bricks and stones at police officers is not free speech.

Generally speaking, right-wing protests are fairly peaceful, so long as Antifa does not show up to attack everyone in sight. Even in Unite the Right, a large part of the protest by the far right morons - ah, sorry, the very fine people - was peaceful, despite its obvious intent to intimidate Blacks, Jews and other non Whites.  It turned messy only once the left wingers started attacking them, and they got what they wanted: a show of force as they were prepared for this.  These guys thrive on violence.

You obviously didn't read the content of the link.

QuoteThe differences in intervention weren't because BLM protests were particularly violent. ACLED found that 93 percent of the protests associated with BLM were entirely peaceful. "Even if we were to put those [7] percent of demonstrations aside and look purely at peaceful [BLM protests], we are seeing a more heavy handed response [compared with right-wing protests]," Kishi said.

I did read it, but it does not compare apples to apples, or at least does not provide data for us to decide on the validity of the argument.  There's no way to know if the police response to a riot post-BLM is merged with the response to the protest itself.

Unless you want to make the argument that all rightwing protests should be forbidden to begin with, there's really no data here to justify the conclusion.

Quoted to provide evidence you can't erase that you had foreknowledge of the coup that will be launched at 7am this morning.
