They'd never do a 25th Amendment move, as that would only serve to put someone in office who would likely kick them all out.

25th Amendment would put Pence in charge...

Who would totally remove all of them.

What makes you think Pence would do that?

A man in power likes to have their own men.

Maybe not every single one would be out, but easily most.

Well, because he would be President, for starters.

But more just spit-balling what he might do if the test did indicate early stages of dementia or other cognitive decline.

The current cabinet are all yes-men to Trump. He designed it that way. As such, why would Pence keep them? Whatever you say about Pence, he's a government guy. He's going to want competence over sloven agreement. Ergo, he'll release Trump's people and put his own in their place.

There is an election in 3.5 months. A move to replace Trump because of incapacity is silly. The voters have been able to see him functioning in public as a candidate and president for 5 years or so, and there have been plenty of reports from people inside the administration for how things have been functioning.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

It's not going to happen, but I'm curious what would happen to his nomination if he were in fact removed by the 25th.

What would be more plausible is if he decides/is convinced he is going to get embarrassed in November and announces he is dropping out. Not sure what happens at that point since he won the primaries.

The GOP convention delegates would pick someone else.

Is that legal? I mean, millions of people voted for him and states spent a lot of money to hold election events. He says, "nevermind" and everyone involved in the primaries is a sucker?

Different time and different rules, but everyone who voted for RFK in 1968 had the same thing happen to him.  I just looked it up - Humphrey didn't win a single primary (although interestingly, only 14 states held primaries).

The primary is for the party.  It's not legally binding.  The party can pick anyone they want using any criteria they want.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Is it believed that he actually did "pass" the test (tested negative for dementia)?

YOu can find the test online.  It really is pretty simple, not hard to imagine Trump could pass it.

And I would think that if Trump should fail a basic cognitive test that his cabinet might step in with the 25th amendment?  Right?

Overwhelming evidence exists that Trump is dumber than a turd. Also, AFAIK everything that Trump is proud of hasn't actually happened, and he seems awfully proud of his test results. And a doctor making up a medical examination result is in line with everything else about this administration.
Women want me. Men want to be with me.

 And the former White House doctor who did this test with Trump a couple of years ago is now running as a Republican candidate for Congress in Texas.
