just heard on npr that seattle is cutting police budget by 50%.

The Hippie city council is trying.

It's yakking, but not actually doing anything.

The point is that they didn't try, so I disagree.  Trump's contempt had no hold on the House's ability to continue its proceedings in spite of his shenanigans, and I would contend that they should have.

Thy didn't try what?  Contrary to what you seem to believe, the House held two weeks of hearings, and heard from every person willing to testify.  I am not sure what it is that they failed to do that you wanted them to do.  delay everything while court cases slowly worked their way through the system, with remands and appeals delaying things until after the election (or even the inauguration)?

QuoteTo the first sentence, I disagree, but our disagreement is only a matter of degree.  To the second, you're not arguing with anyone here on that point.  :)

Since you won't say what you think that the House should have done, nor how the Senate could have looked more foolish, I guess we will have to settle for "you disagree with the points I have made." :)

I am not sure how I could have answered you question when where you say I won't answer your question are both in the same post, but thankfully you were courteous enough to give my answer.  :P

Yes, they should have continued to press on the legal front in forcing those who refused to respond to subpoenas, to testify.  Ultimately, I think the question of the House's power to summon members of the Executive branch to testify is an important constitutional issue that would have been worthy of a USSC test (akin to the Nixon tapes decision).  Additionally, though not legally relevant, I think it is a fair argument that keeping the hearings/investigations going on longer and towards the election season could also have been a more sound political strategy.

Whether or not the legal processes would have take as long as after the election/inauguration is an unknown, so we can easily disagree there.  And the foolish-lookingness of the Senate Republicans is unquantifiable and subjective, so we can again both disagree gracefully.

OMFG  :bleeding:

All the Biden campaign team should do is spend their money on TV and social media ads to just play this.

I wonder why he is keeping this story alive.

It's the same cycle every time.

Trump says x outrageous thing. White House and mediea outriders run around explaining he didn't really mean, it was a joke, that's not really what happnes. Trump gets annoyed at people explaining him so repeats x outrageous thing and confirms he really meant it.

He is proud of passing this test. And maybe the doctors did say they've never seen anyone do so well on it.....But that may be because they're normally treating people with serious dementia.

They probably had to invent those bonus points on the spot to make him pass the test.

True - but you know doctors are used to giving out lollies or stickers for brave children. I don't really see a difference here.

He thinks this test proves he's a genius.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The test doesn't have bonus points.  It's a medical test, not a pop quiz.  It's like a eye exam or blood pressure test.

This is the test in question

I've taken this test before, if the doctor told me I did better than he expected or that the results surprised him, I'd tell him to fuck off.

I can see doctors being surprised by Trump's result... after all, he acts like an insane nutjob, so it would be kinda surprising to see him 'ace' the test, no?

I've been hearing about the dementia test forever. When exactly did he take it?
