While I do think the coverage of Trump's comment has been excessive; that's not the point I was trying to make.  CNN has run 19 unique stories about the protests this weekend; this is the most coverage these protests have gotten or are ever going to get.  Every single one of them mentions Donald Trump by name in the headline.  The protests are no longer about social justice or racial inequality or civil rights (and not participating is no longer about patriotism or respect); they're about Donald Trump, which is what he wants.

Upon reflection no matter what the NFL or their players had done the result would have been the same.  Stand up you support Trump, kneel you oppose Trump, lock arms you stand in solidarity against Trump, don't take the field and you thwart Trump.  I should not have blamed them.

It's how the media packages what they are selling.  They get a lot more traffic when Trump's name is attached than when it isn't.  At this point anything anybody does that is even peripherally related to Trump will get sucked into that vortex.  Sex sells, but not as well as Trump.

Which is so odd as he isn't really all that interesting.

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

I listened to a few seconds and my ears bled. Summary?

QuoteNorth Korea

A record 84 percent of Americans now see North Korea as a threat to the United States, and 70 percent see it as a serious threat; both have been high, but not quite this high, in four ABC/Post polls since 2003. While Trump is seen as a wildcard – as noted, 62 percent don't trust him to handle it responsibly – that's even more so for North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Eighty-nine percent don't trust him on the issue.

According to NPR two weekends ago only 6 players kneeled for the anthem; last weekend it was 200.

The Steeler player who came out of the locker room is Alejandro Neuvo.  Ex army ranger, did time in the Stan.

He was apparently apologizing to his team today.  Something about that it was a team decision which he respected, but he wanted to look at the flag from the locker room tunnel, but he got lost, came out, then got stuck when the anthem started.

Yes. That was all Trump's doing. The issue was pretty much dead and then he decided to make it a big issue.

That's strange.  Story I heard quoted him as saying "this is something I have to do."

That's what the alleged rapist said. What Villanueva said was indeed that he had to do it for the people texting him.

What I can't figure out is why Mike Tomlin thought that staying in the locker room was a way of neither protesting nor standing for the anthem.  To me and I'd think most others, staying in the locker room during the anthem seems like a protest.

Also, why didn't he go to a 5-3 instead of a 5-2 on that last play?  Could have used that extra LB.
