I routinely compare myself favorably to Alabamians.

I know that goes without saying, but I fixed in case any Alabamans see it.

they just want something better than what they got.

The highest standard of living any nation in the history of the world has ever seen, in a sub-5% unemployment economy?

They don't actually know this.  In Trump world, unemployment is out of control, blacks are murdering whites at a record pace, several states have fallen under Sharia law, Obama is despised across the globe and we live with the most corrupt government the US has ever had.  A very large portion of the population believes all of this.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

The Minsky Moment

Alabama receives about $12,000 per capita in federal money but generates only about $4500 in per capital federal revenue.  So you need to subtract about $7K or so from the numbers to remove the effect of being subsidized by other states.

QuoteIngraham wants to be more than just Trump's flack
Fox analyst Monica Crowley is also in the mix for Trump's press secretary.

Laura Ingraham doesn't want to be just another flack.

The popular conservative radio talk show host is willing to accept the position of White House press secretary in Donald Trump's administration, but she wants a bigger title, a role in policymaking and a seat at the decision-making table with the president, according to a source familiar with the discussions.

I know you people disagree, but to me they seem like a cool family that likes each other.

I couldn't care less about that TMZ crap.

Let's take this first one: it reports that the number of poor households went down, the number of household in the income strata above that (low income) went up.  About half the increase in low income households is due to poor households moving up, the rest is from MC households moving down.  So overall, no great but not a huge disaster either given that the chosen period (2008-2014) is selected to include one of the biggest recessions in postwar history, while excluding 2015 - a year where median incomes went up 5 percent.

So nothing to do with building a wall to keep out migrants and using the project to whip up a right wing nationalist frenzy?
