I don't like buying off amazon marketplace anymore, as for old paperbacks like these, most of the ones on sale turn out to be damaged, horribly aged/yellows books.

For a potentially cherished book I'd prefer to buy an nice condition one.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the obvious: 1984 and the 1984 movie version of 1984.  Both brilliant but utterly depressing.
