It just shows that in the future we are going to need pretty sophisticated geo-engineering to keep things together.

Covid likely had more impact on marine sulfur emissions in 2020 than the new regs, but whatever the cause we should always be on the lookout for unintended consequences.

Same as post WWII phenomenon, IIRC.

There was a pause from the mid 1930s through the early 1950s IIRC due to fuel emissions that rejected pollutant in the atmosphere, then it started climbing back.

Would have to read it again to be sure.
