I've finally found an avatar. It's a banner carried by Rhode Island regiments during the Revolutionary War. It has the RI anchor and hope on the right and 13 stars representing the United States in the upper left.

I would have preferred a regimental banner from either the 2nd, 4th or 7th Rhode Island Infantry from the Civil War, but I can't find those on the net. :(

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

It's still alright to condemn immoral actions, even after the fact.

The Revolution was not immoral.

The Revolution was not immoral.
Rebellion against one's lawful sovereign is always immoral.  Rebellion against one's lawful sovereign to create a brutal, expansionistic slaver state is even moreso.
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Given the ordinance banning slavery from the Northwest territories you're branding the founding generation with a brush more suitable for Calhoun's.

Slavery was allowed to exist in the United States.  Moreover, the brutality and thirst for conquest of the early United States cannot be disputed.
