I don't know if nationalist indignation really transfers onto expats like Tyr and garbon.

Not necessarily nationalist indignation but a feeling of disfranchisement, of being left out.

Well then one is foolish and is just taking out their insecurities on speakers of a different language.

Do you think the combination of foolishness and insecurity is rare?

Should we just happily accept it on Languish?

Well he did describe the people expressing this point of view as "nutters".
Quote"This is a Russian warship. I propose you lay down arms and surrender to avoid bloodshed & unnecessary victims. Otherwise, you'll be bombed."

Yes, I was just saying that many people share Tyr's sentiment so his post does qualify as an answer. The nutters' reasons are perhaps different though but until he clarifies we may classify him as a nutter.

Or something.

Well if it is what you are saying the real answer is "I'm deeply insecure and can't handle it when people say things that I can't understand." ;)

It doesn't help that they frequently glance at him, say something to their companions and then giggle.

I was thinking the same. :P But that can happen anywhere, just substitute French with whispering.

Not taking some sort of action is preferable?

Hell, why aren't we sacking university presidents and engaging in hunger strikes over global warming, or the war in Syria?  :hmm: That'll show 'em.

Because we were able to elect people that took those issues more seriously  :P

Speaking of ethnics, apparently Dayton is a place that Ashkia Turks are migrating to. Apparently, they use the city's immigration program and bail out for the suburbs as soon as they can.

I would say Dayton's too small to have suburbs, but then I kinda think of Gulf Breeze and Milton as Pensacola's suburbs.

Good thing the Tories lost, then. Saved our university presidents from sacking, and our students from starving.  ;)

I just found out that the US sends military aid to Vietnam.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Vietnam and the US have become quite close since relations were normalized in the 90s.
