So, Britain has criminalised "revenge porn". At least that is one criminal legislation, where I agree with David Cameron.

I don't know German, but I am guessing it has to do with the respective nation's imperialism.

The US imperium over Texas.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

And Florida.

Just because the US killed most of the natives and replaced them with white people doesn't make it any less of an empire.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.

True but any particular reason Florida and Texas are special in this regard?  Why would they be imperium but Alabama, or wherever, Is not?

Train I'm on's been stopped for ten minutes and they asked if there were any medical staff on board. We're now going backwards to a nearby station, presumably for an ambulance....

Boris Johnson recently renounced his US citizenship.  Didn't know he was one of us.

He says he renounced it because the IRS wanted him to pay capital gains on the sale of a home.  The article says the UK does not have a capital gains tax.  I found this very odd.  Maybe I misread: no capital gains on real estate?

Odd really considering how taxing we find him. :bowler:

While I applaud the sentiment it seems to me it creates all sorts of bizarre gray areas.  People have to agree what 'porn' is, you have to qualify it as revenge and not posted consensually, blah blah.  Very messy.

Not sure what you mean...it looks like it is relatively in line with where it has been the last 30 years. Perhaps even a bit higher than average.

It really shouldn't surprise you it is lower than the 60s and 70s.  Those were very different times. Your chart also doesn't show the full history--it used to be lower in real terms.

It's been on the books in Maryland for a year now.  Prosecutors have to prove that the material posted has to 1) be of a sexually explicit nature, 2) without the individual's consent, and 3) posted specifically to cause the individual's emotional distress.
Maximum of 2 years, so that's Big House time, not the local detention center.

The first case last year--

QuoteA Brunswick man became the first person in Frederick County and possibly the first in Maryland to be charged under the state's new revenge porn law.

Patrick E. Himebaugh, 29, of the 1200 block of Volunteer Drive, was taken into custody Tuesday on several counts of failure to comply with the terms of a peace order as well as a single count of placing intimate sexual images or material on the Internet, according to documents filed in Frederick County District Court.

The documents accuse Himebaugh of posting sexually explicit videos of his ex-girlfriend to pornographic websites and in online accounts, including her address, while encouraging men to rape her.

I'd say that qualifies.
