Just heard on CNN that are hacked pictures of a nude Miss Teen USA floating around on the interweb.
Bullshit.

That said - I don't think most of the books I had to read in school were particularly worthwhile (only really changed about starting college). Certainly not Gatsby. :yuk:
Maybe all humanities courses should come with trigger warnings, 'The past: not the present', 'Art: occasionally challenging' :bleeding:

If you have a trigger, you should be in counseling, not a classroom.

Cankar Hall.

Because life's not worth living as a socialist politician unless you get a horrible ugly-ass building named after you.

I took a test called "Which Danish cultural pessimist are you?" and got Birthe Rønn Hornbech. I'm somehow relieved as the other options would mean I'd have to throw myself off a building. Sørine Godtfredsen. :yuk:

What's a cultural pessimist?  It sounds like something I'd be into. :hmm:

Oh, nevermind; it's exactly what it says. -_-  I thought it might be something specific to the Danish context.

I'm definitely a cultural pessimist.

In Denmark it's mostly hating "the celebration of mediocrity" and thus being staunchly against X-Factor. And whether or not it's a sign of doom that people are clapping along to the music on x-factor on 2 and 4 instead of 1 and 3.

It's a small country.

I couldn't find one of the UK or by county, but here's London boroughs by the most spoken language (after English):

That's a surprise.

I imagined cultural pessimism to be deep skepticism about a night in the opera.

But they didn't win shit, so fuck them.

I'm sure they can find volunteers to do that, yes.

I thought it is a profound conviction that the yoghurt in the fridge has gone off and is no longer fit to eat.

Norgy

Possibly.
It could also be a growing fear that no-one will enjoy the school play. Shouldn't have picked "Death of a Salesman" for the third-graders.

Yeah. You need something like "Waiting for Godot" for that crowd.

Norgy

I was thinking the same. That, or just let them join the fourth-graders in one massive version of "The Cherry Orchard". I'm sure that thought could fill anyone with a bit of cultural pessimism.

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.
