In the same CNN story a talking head claimed overdose of opium (opiates??) is the 3rd leading cause of death in Massachussetts.

That happened under English law. It took a long and tortuous route through the courts before everyone decided it didn't really work. Maybe it will in the US.

That really sounds like it should be a legislative change, not on the initiative of the prosecutor.

I thought you blokes were trying to introduce a reverse onus rather than strict liability?


@BB sounds like there is legislation in place intended for other things and the prosecutor is trying to shoehorn the legislation to fit these facts.
