Do you think society's (alleged) interest in issues of individual sexual morality is something that should be borne gracefully and silently or combated?

Serious question, Jake.

I'd laud someone who took the stance you took. Good on them.

But that's not what you initially posted; you were making a purely financial calculation. And even if you did take that course of action, it would be prudent to consider the possible consequences. If the prejudice you wish to combat has not disappeared in 5-10 years or whatever, if you think you might find yourself on the future-languish complaining about how unfair it is that you were facing difficulties because if this action you'd taken, then it would be imprudent to follow through.

The impression you gave - and it's an impression that's consistent with many others - was "I love sex! I like money! I have porn star fantasies! Whee! Let's DO IT!"

That's very different from taking a principled stance; even if you can hastily construct the semblance of a principled stance after opening your mouth (or making the decision).

I'd hire porn girl, but not porn boy. I'd silently judge porn girl and brazenly condemn porn boy.

I assumed since you knew me rather well that went without saying. :(

I've always been supportive of people who have worked in the adult industry.  I think they perform an incredibly valuable public service; I respect the craft and substantial physical demands of their work; I applaud their (usually) level-headed adherence to risk-mitigation; I worry about their future job prospects when/if they age out of the industry; and I am upset by the unpleasant hypocrisy of those who condemn porn actors and actresses while nonetheless enjoying their work.

I also said, or meant to imply, that the specific fellow was a literal jerkoff who does not deserve the opportunity he has been given for easy cash, an opportunity that exists solely because he's a retrograde idiot and which could improve the lives of many decent people far more deserving (and far more dramatically) than some silver-spoon Duke fuckhead (no offense intended to our Duke alumnus).  I do understand the irony the producer is going for, but offering someone money--when they likely have an deeply-held double standard about the entire affair--while making fun of his unsubstantiated dick size (seriously?) is not exactly my idea of elegant reproach.  What if he has an 11" dick?  Does that mean it's okay to slut shame people?

I did unintentionally imply that fucking Lexi Belle on camera would be fun.  It could be, but I have my doubts.  Obviously, pornography is sex, but I imagine it is not sex as you and I know it.  It would no doubt be an interesting and enlightening experience, but not at all necessarily enjoyable in the conventional sense, especially on your first try.  Point is, porno is a job first.

Finally, I have always been very serious about sexual autonomy, and find efforts to control human sexuality vulgar and counterproductive.

You know this.  I previously felt it unnecessary to write a screed about it.

Why are there no porn bit players, character actors, or supporting actors?

I have no firsthand experience, but I'd guess porn sex is not even sex. It's work. And usually pretty unpleasant work at that.

There are plenty of bit players.  I dunno where they find 'em--somewhat fitting, given the context of our present conversation, I believe I recall Jake mentioning a casting call to me once --but the bukkake featured extras have gotta come from somewhere.

Top-tier, high production-value porn definitely smacks of hard work.  For one thing, you've got to keep in great shape.  I think it's probably going too far to assume it's unpleasant, but it does sometimes appear tedious.  Lots of standing around and staying hard.  Easier on the actresses in some regards because they're not up against non-negotiable and purely physical limitations.

On the other hand, I get the distinct feeling that a great deal of the semi-pro porn is guys basically paying decently attractive and occasionally rather hot women to have sex with them under the cover of the First Amendment.  This is Backroom Casting Couch, Amateur Allure, etc.  This is also the case in just about every piece of Eastern European porn I've ever seen.

Then there's stuff that doesn't seem to have serious commercial aspirations at all, but rather just appears to be people genuinely having fun.  Runs the gamut.  On one end you have Camille Crimson and her husband are (were?) pretentious (still hot) and a little pandering to a certain audience (a conspicuous shot of Watchmen on a bookshelf I found really off-putting).  On the other there's COHF (possibly also not still around, haven't checked), a bukkake outfit that routinely had the same women and men alike; similarly, there's a whole Tampa Bay scene.

Grease?  I am going to have to reassess everything I thought I knew about you.

I was 12. Loved it. John T. was my idol  :D

The movie came out the summer that I turned six.  A lot of my classmates had older siblings who adored that movie, so it was awesome! (though none of us had seen it.)  I remember that fall we had a speaker in my first grade class; the entire class gasped when they heard that she was "From Greece."  We thought she was the coolest person ever.

LOL.
