Rotten Tomatoes' metric is dumb.
To sleep, perchance to dream. But in that sleep of death, what dreams may come?

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

I have no opinion on the movie I've never seen, just taking the opportunity to bash RT.  :P

What I'd like to know is what those teachers were doing there when the 8-9 year olds were changing? <_<

When I was a child taking swimming lessons, my instructors used to change in the same room. One of my earliest memories of latent homosexuality. -_-

Not that, but in gym class when we were 11 or so, our male teacher always went into the hall through the girls' changing room. When one boy in class pointed out that he had a boner every time he did it, he got slapped by the teacher. Nothing else happened. The teacher still works there. This case would probably be handled differently now than 25 years ago.

Our PE teachers' office adjoined the showers and changing area and had a window running the length of the adjoining wall.   The same setup was on the girls area.  For some reason the female PE teacher always had to take an urgent call in the male PE teachers office around the time we were in the shower and getting dressed.  Apparently there was no phone in her office.

I'm planning on making an English dinner for my parents next weekend when they're here.  I may need to tweak the menu a little bit.

Sure, it was just me. :D

I don't think anyone else has been flogging it.

Sorry you didn't like it, but, yeah, it's been tremendously well-received across the board.

Anyway, I just gave 12 Years an A+.  But I don't recall flogging it specifically.  If I was hectoring you to go see a particular movie, especially you personally who go to the theater like once a year, it was definitely Gravity.

It lacked memorable, interesting dialogue.  It lacked dramatic tension: nothing really came as a surprise.  It taught me nothing new about the condition of slaves.

I read in the screen script at the end that the dude worked on the Underground Railroad.  Now that would have added to the film I think--frame his story with a conversation between the dude and a runaway, explaining how he could empathize and understand the runaways situation because he had spent 12 years in that same situation.

But the only things the film has going for it is the *shocking* use of the word nigger and the whipping porn.  Not enough in my mind to raise the film above mediocre.

Ah, see, that's what I was talking about when I reviewed it.  You wanted a more active protagonist, whereas Northrup does practically nothing the whole movie.  And I actually discussed this being a potential problem--although for once I thought a lead with hardly any agency was one of the film's best aspects.  Here, and the facts of Northrup's life notwithstanding, it was the only way to make a movie about slavery as slavery, and avoid a false tone to its events, as opposed to Django Unchained (though that sounds unfair, given that Django's fantasy falseness was the whole point of the exercise).

I'm still surprised you thought it actually boring rather than just unsatisfying.  I thought it was paced pretty quick, almost too quick.  Oh well.  Different strokes, I guess?
