HOw does Alien 4 fit into the thematic arc?

I've only seen bits and pieces.  Alien 3 took too much out of me.

For what it's worth, others have said it's not as terrible as 3.

I don't know where that comes from, as it's an atrocious, atrocious film.  It's as if the Alien franchise wanders into Warhammer 40K absurdism.

Alien 3 is way better than Alien 4 which is an unbelievably atrocious piece of shit.
