That black cubist church is at the Vienna International Center (a convemtion center, shares the subway station with UN city. I've done that commute for three weeks now and only realized yesterday that it's supposed to be a chruch!
I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

Thanks for clearing that up

I wonder if the author really believes that?

I'm sure he doesn't, he's using the comic to imply that Christians do though.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.

This could be true in Catholicism.  If the Hooker had been "working" that night, she would died with an unconfessed mortal sin.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I don't know exactly what you are saying, but yes.  Prostitution and adultery are both mortal sins.  Incidentally so is getting wasted on cocaine and running over a hooker.  Of course, you can ask for forgiveness after words and be back in a state of grace.

duck and dog- do they really sound the same?
With my friend the other night she was getting very confused and frustrated after I said "oh wow, a duck in the river" and she couldn't see a swimming dog.
To me they sound clearly different....
