Actually I was just thinking that although this apartment has a lackluster layout (railroad-style) if you re-arrange the rooms, it probably isn't soo much smaller than my apt in SF - though it is also more costly.

True, but this is something else, a doc review project that would've netted me about $4000 in the month before I go (and also permitted me to more plausibly claim to be a lawyer when trying to fuck people--"I work in a skyscraper, you tart, now take your pants off").  I think the lady who works for the staffing agency is Spanish, and thus a countryperson.   And in fairness to her, it's the client, not the firm, that 86'd it.  Firms love doc review, because they bill outrageously.  Staffing agencies love doc review, because they take a cut.  And unlicensed J.D.s tolerate doc review, because it pays better than working in a restaurant, even if it's beyond dead-end work.

In any event, I guess I'm glad I didn't quit my sub-shitjob?

But it does at least ameliorate the issues of "when the fuck am I going to move?"  and "how the fuck am I going to make that SC gov't job interview Tuesday?"  So every cloud has a tin lining, I suppose.
