But I didn't want to be *that* much of a geek, so I went to lawschool instead.  Nobody ever gave me a speech about why I shouldn't be in law school though.  And it turns out I make a damn fine lawyer.
Don't you think that sending people to gaol is a bit Machiavellian?
I do not hate you, nor do I love you, but you are made out of atoms which I can use for something else.

Only if you do it right.

Senator Ensign isn't running in 2012. Maybe we'll get Angle to run again and have the GOP lose a seat.

For the curious, my prediction is this. The nominees for each side will be Dean Heller and Shelley Berkley. Berkley represents the strip in the HoR and has a long history of supporting veterans. The big casinos will almost certainly support her and she'll get to use Harry Reid's GOTV organization. That will make the polls end up closer than it looks like. Heller is the former Nevada Sec of State and currently my US congressman (Nev. #2). He's a fairly conventional GOP nice-guy candidate who doesn't really irritate anyone and will probably lead in the polls the whole way. He originally took over the seat in congress (that was vacated when Jim Gibbons became Governor) by beating the now-infamous Sharron Angle in the 2006 primary.

I will be very surprised if one of those two is not the next Senator. The off-hand alternative I can think of might be Dina Titus for the Dems--she's out of work atm because her suburban Vegas congressional seat was taken by the GOP in the last wave.

I've been back in the US for just a week and I feel like I'm stuck in Limbo.

Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.

Things still not too good at the home front.  Sister needs to have her Gall bladder taken out this week.  Internet connections still shaky.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011
