I have it set it up in the area where my mom lives (I helped buy the house)...it's very small town, so not too bad, but still mostly a mix of:

- local gossip
- scammers
- grifters
- a few crackpots
- there-was-a-cougar-in-my-yard
- stop feeding the raccoons before they get of control
- EVs will be the death of us all
- Coyotes are rampaging over the neighborhood eating household pets
- my indoor-only dog got out, please help me find him
- one actual active-minded citizen volunteer doing hard work to encourage the community to assist with keep the local woodland trails well maintained
- "I keep seeing kids on e-bikes ravaging the local woodland trails"

Ours is similar, but more citizen volunteer types than grifter/scammer types.

In several surveys, the overwhelming first choice for what makes Canada unique is multiculturalism. This, in a world collapsing into stupid, impoverishing hatreds, is the distinctly Canadian national project.

The local groups I am part of are:

- 40% people advertising their businesses
- 40% people complaining about people advertising their businesess and cluttering everything.
- 10% people looking for a job.
- 10% "Hey, where can I buy xxxx?" -> followed by people advertising their business and people complaining about people advertising their business

Up until a year ago we also had loads of flame wars among Russian/Ukrainian neighbors. But that has died out for the most part.

Josquius

I don't use Facebook anymore but my partner does. She often shows me stuff from the local group. It's always ridiculous new ways to break the law.

To be fair, grifters/scammer presence is fairly low.  I also left out:

- Can anyone recommend a good contractorr/mechanic/chimney sweep/roofer...
- I need someone to do yard work for me, willing to pay $10/hour.*

*fair chance had also posted in the past about something-something-illegal immigrants

I quickly shut down the notifications, but I haven't turned off the few emails I am getting of popular posts, out of a morbid curiosity.
 Abandon all hope.

Just checked mine - 90% people looking for or offering cash in hand work (mainly garden and flat clearance by the looks of it) and, I'm sure entirely unrelatedly, complaints about flytipping in the area.
Let's bomb Russia!

Just for the record, this isn't the famous Little Mermaid statue (as the article notes), but her... err... larger... sister.  It doesn't seem to be nudity, but big boobs that the censors are objecting to.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Tonitrus

We must not allow a big boobs gap.

I wasn't aware they had two of these.

I remember finding the little mermaid statue quite depressing.
Nice enough statue.... But in a grotty industrial port.

I am guessing it's a bit of a hype for tourists thing like the peeing boy statue in Brussels. You go there and it's.. Nothing special at a random boring corner.

Life truly must had been dull when this was a prime attraction.
