Oh I'm so sorry Raz - I've experience with dementia and it is really bad, especially when there's other stress or causes for confusion for that person.

I hope the lawyer can help on finding a solution.
Let's bomb Russia!

Well she's in the hospital now.  Fuck that was an ordeal.  Took 5 hours to get through all of that.  Anyway, she needs some meds, so she's in the right place.  I have to tell my brother, I hate talking to my brother.  He's an drunken asshole.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

Sorry to hear about all the setbacks Raz, hope something works out soon.

Quote from: Razgovory on May 13, 2025, 09:29:36 AMYeah, so I'm going to have to put my mom in the hospital.  She keeps trying to take a bunch of pills.

Good lord! You keep getting hammered, don't you? I wish that there were more I could do than just express my sympathies and best wishes.
She's been developing dementia and the recent thing with losing her home is making it much worse.  Three days ago she asked me if her mother was still alive, a woman who's been dead for 30 years.  She keeps asking me to fix her phone, but when I ask what's wrong with it she doesn't know and gets angry.  There is nothing wrong with her phone as I can tell.

Sorry Raz...i went through a lot of that myself.

Okay, current plan.  Pay the homeless people around my apartment to hold signs shaming the management.  Plan B... well I'm looking into buying poison.

Where does the time go?  I see from some of my colleagues e-mail that the long, dark Canadian winter has ended and the wet, hot Canadian summer has begun.

Happy Victoria Day, Canadians / Bonne Fête de la Reine, Habitants

I hope your day is extra Victorian, filled with plenty of tea, crumpets and imperialism. :bowler:

 ;)

I got a chance to see the fireworks in Oshawa last year.  That was neat.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Soooo hot. And it rained last night. I'm built for the cold dammit.

Vancouver is wet and a bit cold right now. 11C.

Naturally it's "sports day" at my kids school today :lmfao:

It's been a bit more balmy earlier, and probably will be again.

An interesting article echoing some thoughts I've been having lately.

So... Eurovision.
Always a hive of political nonsense but the voting was particularly weird this year.
None of favourites did very well, one which seemed very eurovision indeed (Malta) did downright terrible with the audience vote.

The UK voted Israel on top and they looked like winning until the very end.
Which considering their behaviour last year (at eurovision I mean. Though the country too obviously) and their choice of contestant seeming extremely cynical a choice (in the sort of way where they're clearly trolling for this to be
pointed out) and musically/performance wise "Meh"...
Really suspicious.

They clearly structured the voting for maximum drama. A near miss from Estonia and leaving it till the very last moment for everyone watching to feel like a winner.

A hilario9usly overwrought piece by an anonymous writer. "The carrier is like a unicorn, almost mythological and out of reach."  Who writes like this?

"The Americans will downplay the whole thing. But I know, because I understand the psychology of the naval military mind, that they know. They see it. They understand that no matter how much they brush off the ideas and implications, it's real. They just do not want to admit its a possibility, they're too invested and nobody wants to stand out by challenging the status quo."  Again, who writes like this?

Guys sitting in their mom's basements write like this.
The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.   -G'Kar
