Today I learned, in Korean they have an equivalent of schadenfreude.

Isn't that the opposite meaning though? Being bitter at somebody else's happiness/success.

Its two sides of the same coin really. Happy other=sad me, sad other=happy me. From the explanation I heard its used for both.

I suppose you can resent somebody's success (because you don't like them for whatever reason), without envying it.

We have finally managed to sit in a 2021 Hyundai Kona and earlier a 2020 Kia Niro (both EVs).

Unfortunately the Kona is just too small, period. Doesn't worth the price difference with the Niro to deal with the tiny space. Couldn't test drive it, but didn't matter.

Test driving the Niro was a hoot. My old Avensis had 146 horse power in its prime so it can do very decent acceleration but wow the Niro was fun.  Maybe not exactly much feedback from the steering wheel as in the Avensis but still very decent. I really enjoyed driving it. It's just a compact SUV obviously but the electric engine makes it feel nimble and very responsive. Plus the generational jump from my 2006 Avensis is just massive.

We are likely going to wait a few months to save up some more reserves, but we are almost certainly getting a Niro EV.  Already waiting for the quote to have a charger setup at our driveway.
