Although a cynic might note that there's a general election in the autumn. Labour won a huge victory in 2020 with about 50% of the vote and they're now polling behind the National Party and are on about 33% so this might give a successor a chance to get a honeymoon just in time for the election/she gets to leave on her terms/narrative rather than being forced out in the run up to an election or after an election defeat
