That whole account has to be a bit, right? There's no way he's sincere and real? Deep cover operative, methinks.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I am, somehow, less interested in the weight and convolutions of Einstein's brain than in the near certainty that people of equal talent have lived and died in cotton fields and sweatshops.

QuotePass the booze and weed, we're going hunting!

The French are finally getting around to banning hunting while pissed.
[...]
There will be new fines to sanction "the act of hunting under the excessive influence of alcohol," as part of a wider government plan on hunting, it was announced this week. That's because, according to a French Senate report, 9 percent of hunters involved in a severe accident test positive for alcohol or drugs.
[...]
And get this, the hunters are furious, with national hunting federation President Willy Schraen telling Franceinfo that such a move would "set rurality on fire." I'd venture that a pissed-up or high hunter brandishing a firearm is perhaps more likely to set something on fire.

What do the french consider excessive?  :hmm:

Also, if only 9% and drunk the. It'd be funny if Banning drinking raises accidents as 91% of the current ones are sober
Being lazy is bad; unless you still get what you want, then it's called "patience".
Hubris must be punished. Severely.

This would only mean you are going to be in real trouble if you cause an accident while drunk or under the influence I presume. So long as you can be high and drunk and not have any accidents you should be gold...unless the Gendarmes are going to be patrolling the countryside testing hunters or something.

So John Lydon has thrown his hat into the ring to represent Ireland at Eurovision. He's also had a massive go at Eurovision for being "absolutely awful", "desperately phoney" and "disgusting" - all par for the course so far.

What's slightly unexpected is the song he's entered, Hawaii, is dedicated to his wife who has alzheimer's and is actually pretty poignant and even quite sweet.

No other possible explanation for the 19 in there.

In what military is "19" the code for surrender?  What does that even mean?

My guess is that someone was having someone on.

It sure is the weakest link in a pretty wobbly chain of theories there.

Someone should tell Nick that, if you have to label yourself "Alpha Male," you are signaling that you aren't one.

That's assuming that this clowning isn't mock clowning, in which case "Alpha Male" is terrific satire.

Strangely enough, French links, including the France Info site, only mentions Willy Schraen's opposition to a ban of hunting on Sundays or holidays.

QuoteChasse : si on l'interdit le dimanche ou pendant les vacances, "dans cinq ans, la ruralité est à feu et à sang", s'insurge Willy Schraen

Already quite hyperbolic, while minimising the figures about hunting accidents, only 8 last year.

Of those 8, 2 resulting in fatalities, according to him.  :hmm:

The measures against drunken hunting are actually approved by Schraen

Of course, he minimises again drunken hunting but approves nonetheless measures against it.

For the francophones, a comedy skit cited by Schraen dealing with clichés about hunters in France.
