Everyone sneers about the avocado bathroom suites; but, at some point, millions of people spent good money to install them  :o

So many victims of fashion.

The question to be asked is what is the current equivalent of the avocado bathroom suite? For domestic places I reckon it is laminate flooring, a cheap and horrible substitute for renovating old wood floors or replacing them properly.

Oh avocado bathrooms are back:

It's one of those things that I think you can successfully pull off if you have a huge amount of money to spend on fittings etc to make it perfect. But most people who try and imitate it will regret their decisions.

This revival of avocado by the elites is just pure trolling. Mr and Mrs Lower-middleclass will buy their avocado stuff at B&Q, it will look awful and they will be pointed and laughed at  :P

What's an avocado bathroom suite?

A 70s trend that was very popular the UK - I lived in a house with a bathroom suite like this

Now short hand for awful interior design decisions

It has a material impact on the price of your property - it is crazy.

Ah, ok, you can still see bathrooms like those in old appartments over here as well. I had no idea they were so idiosyncratic.

That is exactly the same suite that my mother has in her house

Although her toilet does have a brand sticker on it which says that it is a "Dauntless Elite"; which I think is a very good thing for a toilet to be.

Josquius

I like laminate flooring. :(

What gets me is ostentaious archways on too small houses.

It's something that I like but I suspect the future may not be kind on the fashion for distressed wood, furniture made of shipping pallets, etc...

The flat we are renting has the regular cheapo carpet glued to the floor as per standard (except bathroom and kitchen) but the old wooden flooring creaks under it.

Boxing is not really thing in Post-War development in North America.

My kitchen floor is 2 inches higher than the original floor because thru 3 renovation it just got built on top of the previous one.

I knew I should have kept the stuff my parents had from the 70s.
