Yeah I think it's just order of office but I also didn't recognise W initially (I thought it was Michael Bloomberg).

Agree on Trump and W's ties.

Planning some rail trips this Spring/Summer and I came across this:

No, it's not that Scottish viaduct with Hogwarts express that instagramers go mad for, but somewhere in West wales served by 3 or 4 trains a day, the station up the line had just 84 visitors in a whole year recently, so I think I'd be assured of a good photo spot.

Government Monitoring Those With "Negative" Views of Health Insurance Companies

QuoteIf you expressed "negative sentiment" toward insurance companies on social media following the murder of UnitedHealthcare's CEO last month, the government was watching.

That was a very, very long list of people to watch...

Not sure it was useful to have such a wide net though.

Americans are just coming to grip that the Tiktok ban was for all things Bytedance owned. Which includes Marvel Snap.

Sigh.  Another click-baity click-baiter accomplishes his mission.

If that's La Gerbe d'Or in Montréal (and it sort of looks like old Montreal rather than Quebec) that bakery closed down very recently.

Best comment in the thread (?) :

Changez la voiture pour une Żuk, une Nysa ou une Robur, et ça ressemble à la Pologne du début des années 90. Ensuite, enlevez la nourriture et ça ressemble à la Pologne du début des années 80.

Close enough to early '90s Poland, change the car first. Then remove the food.

interesting little Podcast:

My dad created Dungeons & Dragons

QuoteMy dad created Dungeons & Dragons

In 1970, father of five Gary Gygax was fired from his job as an insurance underwriter in Chicago, in the United States of America. It may sound like a mundane event to read about but, believe it or not, this moment actually changed the gaming industry forever.

Gary is the creator of table-top roleplay game, Dungeons & Dragons. In the 50 years since its release, D&D has generated billions of dollars in sales and now boasts more than 50 million players worldwide.

However, Gary's story is not one of riches and success. Luke Gygax witnessed the incredible highs and lows of his father's life first hand. He shares his memories of that time with Matt Pintus.

Sometimes you have to marvel at what an age we live in.

I was up at 6am this morning.  My Samsung dryer was still running from last night - it was showing an error code.  Even turning it off and on did nothing - the dryer would still run even if the dryer was "off".  Only opening the door would stop it.

I hit up the internet.  This is a not uncommon problem - some relay is stuck.  The solution?  Unscrew some screws, find the control board, and whack it a few times.

Problem solved!

I never, ever would have been able to do that without Youtube.

:worthy:

I may eventually need to replace the control board.  We'll see if it keeps happening.  But A: we can keep drying clothes right now (with 3 boys that's important) and B: even if I have to replace the board it's like a $100 part and the replacement looks simple too.

Quote"Dear all, A short update from me. This evening, I am hosting my Nordic colleagues from Finland, Norway, and Sweden for dinner at my home, after we earlier held a meeting at the Prime Minister's Office.

We have always stood together in the Nordic countries. And with the new and more unpredictable reality we are facing, it has only become even more important to maintain strong alliances and friendships.

At our meeting today, we discussed our regional defense and security cooperation. We all recognize the seriousness of the situation. And I am personally in no doubt that defense and security will and must continue to be a high priority for Denmark, for the Nordic region, and for the rest of Europe.

I hear from many of you – and from many of those who write to me – that the situation in the world can make you feel uneasy. I completely understand that. We must remember that Denmark is not alone. We have several close allies with whom we share common values. And we belong to a continent that we are in the process of making even stronger. This is an important task for the government and for me as prime minister. It applies militarily, but also economically and technologically.

Tomorrow, I will travel to Poland to participate in the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.

Wishing you all a very pleasant Sunday evening."

Yeah, the amount of times that I fire up YT to find help with appliances and overall housekeeping stuff is remarkable.

Last time it was to find out why my heater was vibrating while turned on, which was somewhat concerning :D - I was about to return it, but YT revealed it was just a matter of a poorly tightened screw, which was very easily fixed.

Seems little to no coverage of Serbia going to hell. Massive protests against Vucic who apparently is just starting to play the standard "it is the minorities" card, urging unity because the Vajdasag as we call it (northern Serbia with the big Hungarian population) is preparing to pull a Kosovo. Which is of course is nonsense
