Also, while sergeants don't have a commission they are usually called NCOs, ie non-commissioned officers.

Ranks and jobs are usually separated terms anyways.  We don't really call someone a "aerospace systems sergeant" or a "machinist's mate petty officer"

But even being an NCO, I would never have referred to myself as an "intelligence officer".

State elections in Bavaria and Hesse: Fascists with around 16% second strongest after Conservatives with around 36% in each state.  :(

Bavaria always struck me as an oddity in being rich and educated yet perpetually pining for a more backwards time.

And yet. Like Police officers, to the laymen you are one.

Isn't that the norm? I don't really agree with your framing but it's only (possibly) flipped very recently.

It's the South-East with the Tories, Christian Democrat heartlands in the North of Italy, Bavaria and the CSU. The core voter for the right in post-war 20th century Europe, was the well-educated, successful, respectable professional - and, in much of continental Europe, Catholic.

I've never worked using a cover, so no.   Nowadays it doesn't matter...as I now work in academia.

The accused in question was likely never an "intelligence officer" in the way one might use that term to describe a James Bond-like figure.  "Intelligence flunkie" might be better.

CBC Radio stops broadcasting the official time, ending an 80 years tradition.

Does anyone else remember calling in to get the official time?

Seen a few days ago, a custom license plate: DCLXVI

I was like hmm... roman numerals, let me try and figure this out...

Someone slipped it past whomever regulates license plates...
