Quote from: Syt on March 13, 2022, 02:38:10 PMProblem for me is I don't think DC has any series I'd be really interested in, besides their graphic novels, maybe. Are you using a VPN to use DC Infinite?
I actually find DC had a lot of good content that appeals to me. I'm always torn between which of the big 2 I prefer. I'm in the US, so I luck out on their goofy "no international accounts" concept they seemingly refuse to change. What types of books do you like? I might be able to toss a few suggestions your way.

Mostly old Vertigo stuff. Transmetropolitan, Preacher, Watchmen, V For Vendetta, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Sandman ... which I all have as hardcopies. Plus Fables and Hellblazer which I've read but don't own. I've read a bit of Y: The Last Man and 100 Bullets. May need to give them another try some time.

A hero for us all

I think he'd aready passed away, so it wasn't for him - but I think last year I read an article about health officials in Santiago wanting to give a vaccination or somethng to one of the riot dogs. They couldn't find him anywhere. So they got in touch with activists who staged a fake riot as a lure - the dog came to join in and got its jab

He did indeed pass away a while ago (2017, according to his wiki), but a number of heirs have popped up around the country (I've read about two, in other cities outside of Santiago), and it is mentioned that he had fathered 32 puppies by the time he died, so I'm sure that there's no lack of new riot dogs in Chile.

Edit: Lots of different riot dogs in Greece as well.

Edit 2: Did some research and apparently the dog that had to be tricked to get treatment was one called "Vaquita", from Antofagasta (Chile's 2019 character of the year, apparently  ), and it was not to get vaccinated but to tend to some wounds he had from previous protests, as it had been hit by police shotgun pellets. Because the dog wouldn't allow anyone to get close, they did a phony march that took directly to a veterinarian clinic.

Amazing. And finally - a country that takes person of the year seriously

RIP Scott Hall aka Razor Ramon

Died age 63, following multiple heart attacks after hip replacement surgery. I imagine his substance abuse issues didn't help at all and I'm quite surprised he made it that long. Though I think he cleaned himself up in recent years?

His ladder match against Shawn Michael at Wrestlemania X remains one of my favorites.

Wrestling With Wregret reviews old pay per view events on his channel and in a recent video (dunno which one, but I think it had Owen Heart as Blue Blazer vs Mr Perfect) he said his kid would sometimes join when he's watching those old events and occasionally ask, "What's this guy doing now? Is that guy still active?" which leads to some uncomfortable moments.

RIP I remember that guy from when I was watching wrestling as a kid.

Fidesz' Peace March (a semi regular mass event to reaffirm their following in their own strength) is underway. A guy from the country's joke/comedy relief political party went dressed as a T-Rex but it was not appreciated I think, and the police was escorting him away. Somewhat surreal:

Somehow more vivid but I'm less able to imagine it than, say, rainforest the area of Wales is burned every day.

I remember many moons ago there was a site called pylon of the month which I loved for the sheer stupidity of it. It was a frequent joke only I found funny that this site existed.

But then I see this news and it actually interests me.
Cleaning up messy landscapes is where I get quite tory. Let's take out palisade fencing next please.

I am not clear on the giraffe standard myself.

I recall a news report one time saying that "hail the size of rocks fell on Sheridan, Wyoming."
I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.

Another nice stunt was that at one point while the pro-Orban mass of people were marching past, somebody blasted a 2008 speech of Orban (around the time of the aggression against Georgia), about how a Western-cultured nation should not tolerate Eastern oppression etc. It was greeted with furious booing from the crowd.  :D

I think I watched that one, IIRC the match was Ultimate Warrior Vs. Rick Rude. And yeah, wrestlers don't make it to old age, most of the ones from the 80s are already 6 feet under and some of the ones from the 90s already joined them. I wonder how much of a shock it'll be when Hulk Hogan passes.

Both of whom are quite dead.

Yeah, you have quite a number of wrestlers who died while their careers were still active (Brett Hart, Chris Benoit <_<, Eddie Guerrerro), but then followed by a number who died in their 40s and 50s.

The mix of painkillers, illegal drugs, steroids and constant strain on your body takes a hell of a toll.
