I don't do meditation.  I drink alcohol to relax, like normal people.

On a related note, do you Yuros have dim sum?  Very much a brunch food IMO.
Yes - dim sum is just Cantonese lunch dishes no?

Brunch exists. I refuse to acknowledge it because I disagree on a moral level with socialising before lunch.

Similarly in Americanisms that we need to reject, I have been offered - and refused - breakfast meetings <_<

Beats me.  I've never had Cantonese lunch outside of dim sum.  Lots of stuffed buns and stuffed rolls, traditionally wheeled around in carts from table to table.  Same thing?

Pro tip: optimal brunch time is 1, 1:30, 2.

Yeah that or ticking on the multiple choice menu for what you want - I think it is a Cantonese/Hong Kong classic so we definitely have it in the UK. It's very standard (and of wildly varying quality) here.

Yeah, this is where I think Europe goes wrong is brunch = between breakfast and lunch and it will get a blanket refusal from me.

I think in the US it's basically eating breakfast food and getting wrecked at lunch, which is something I'm highly interested in. But that doesn't really happen here. We're too literalist.

Lovely little piece of appreciation of Don't You Want Me Baby as a perfect piece of pop on its 40th anniversary (mixed with the mortifying horror that the music I grew up to/my mum loved is now approaching its 40th anniversary ):

I've always thought of it as communally nursing a hangover and finding out who got laid.

Again - things I consider profoundly private and between me, a fag and a strong black coffee.

After lunch it's an anecode, in the morning it's all too raw.

Dim sum is Cantonese, yes.

I knew it was Cantonese, I didn't know it was just regular lunch food.  I thought it might be a special treat thing.

Yeah that tracks.

Funk is just talking about some sort of niche version of a DC brunch I reckon.

That may be true. I never actually encountered a "brunch culture" until I moved here so it may be coloring my understanding.

As I understand it it's not really "regular lunch food". It's part of an experience of going to a teahouse, hanging out for an extended period of time with friends/ family, chatting, drinking tea, ordering dishes and sharing them.
