My iPod is dead.
What does someone do these days when they need an MP3 player?
Could just use my phone but...batteries.

Use your phone, it doesn't really eat that much out of your battery.

Savonarola

There are always openings on the lunatic fringe.
In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love, they had five hundred years of democracy and peace—and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock

Nominees for the Mercury Prize:

QuoteAnohni - 'Hopelessness'
Bat For Lashes - 'The Bride'
David Bowie - 'Blackstar'
Jamie Woon - 'Making Time'
Kano - 'Made in the Manor'
Laura Mvula - 'The Dreaming Room'
Michael Kiwanuka - 'Love & Hate'
Radiohead - 'A Moon Shaped Pool'
Savages - 'Adore Life'
Skepta - 'Konnichiwa'
The 1975 - 'I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it'
The Comet Is Coming - 'Channel the Spirits'

I've only heard four of those albums, Bowie, Kiwanuka, Radiohead, Savages. All were good, two were great, but Blackstar is most memorable.

It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

By a replacement?

To save you're phone battery, why not get one of those tiny sandisks, cheap, size of a small matchbox and with a micro-sd slot have effectively near infinite capacity?
They don't make iPods anymore.

That's what I'm looking into, next best thing. Most I see though seem to just have next/previous track navigation, i want something with a navigatable menu.

They still make ipods.  I love my ipods and just checked.  They still sell them.

For the army people around here: what's the proper way to address a retired officer in writing? Do you use his former grade? Or just his civilian name? This man in particular is a retired colonel from the US army.

I understand that ipod nano is an ipod and has no phone function.  The screen is only 2.5 inch large.

In a letter? I think I've seen: "John Smith, Colonel, U.S. Army (retired)"

Edit: Actually, check this out...

So: Colonel John Smith, USA, Retired
