Two Calgary teens died over the weekend (and two more are in hospital) after they broke into Calgary Olympic Park and rode down the bobsled track in a toboggan.  What they didn't know was that there was a barricade half way down the track, which happens when the track is set up for luge and not bobsled.

I don't know whether this is a :( or a Darwinian  (though the media is full of reports about how these boys were top students), but in any event I thought it was right up Languish' alley.

The article suggests nothing needs doing, just teenage stupidity. Though it strikes me that if the track is designed to have a barrier in place on one track halfway down when the other is in use, it would make sense to have some sort of indicator at the top of the run hardwired in somehow.

Who has an ssd?
Beyond os what do you use it for? Game installs?
The limited read write cycle stuff has me concerned.
Ordered one anyway. Might as well if I'm doing the windows 10 switch.

OS and a game installs or 2.

Relax, that read write cycle is a lot.

Ever had that nagging feeling there's some mad, bad or sad things you need to apologise for, to a handful of people?  :Embarrass:

I've read an article that put the "limited number of writes" into context.  You need to constantly write everything on your drive for something like a year for this to be a problem.

Dylan Moran is in Vienna end of this month. And Jimmy Carr next month. Tickets are a bit pricey, though.  :hmm:

I've got tickets for Jimmy Carr. Chose a safe distance from the stage.

Moran is great.  I think he was in Geneva not so long ago but yes,  crazy expensive

In Germany there's a tradition for carnival to have parades with cars that often show political caricatures and satire (e.g. one year it showed Merkel crawling out of a giant ass labeled "USA").

This year there was a car for the (canceled) Düsseldorf parade labeled "Government change in Poland":

The Polish foreign minister has said that it shows contempt for Poland and that his government will ask the German government how/why this is happening.

I still can't figure out if our "liberal" government is serious about this mass internet surveillance (save every connection made from all clients) they're on about. Now they seemingly want to ban VPNs too.

Ban VPNs? How will any multinational be able to work?

That's why I'm not sure what's going on, it really appears as if they have not thought this through at all. But they might allow VPNs if the provider stores all client connections privately and opens those data for the government, similarly all hotels, restaurants, etc. that offers WiFi must also store all client connections.
