My favorite example of Russian turning H's into G's is now they translate "the Hauge".  In Russian, it's "Gaga". :P

I've gone a whole year only meeting one Japanese person.
Last year in the course of a night I met 3, all unknown to each other.

How do Russians distinguish people named "Garry", from people named "Harry"?
They just don't.  It's spelled the same way.

That must be very confusing.
I've given it serious thought. I must scorn the ways of my family, and seek a Japanese woman to yield me my progeny. He shall live in the lands of the east, and be well tutored in his sacred trust to weave the best traditions of Japan and the Sacred South together, until such time as he (or, indeed his house, which will periodically require infusion of both Southern and Japanese bloodlines of note) can deliver to the South it's independence, either in this world or in space.  -Lettow April of 2011

I can't think of a situation where it would be.  People can have the same names, that eventuality is accounted for.  Whether the names are the same in the original language doesn't really matter.

I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma, a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.
