Nice photo.

But yes it does look odd, that low; the river outside my door has some patches of white forth floating on the surface as it flows by, so quite high and fast.  :bowler:

Rivers out west have a disturbing tendency of drying up completely and disappearing into the ground.

It's the reverse here, my river is so reliable, in the 1930s they put in a hydro-electric scheme here on the mature part of a river just 10 miles from the sea and only 25 ft above sea-level.  :hmm:

Not this West.  The river near our house is running wide and fast this time of year.

One of the front pages today:

Either the entire British establishment's about to collapse under Savile-like stories. Or the People/Mirro (and slightly dodgy Exaro News) have done some seriously, unbelievably irresponsible reporting

A bit of a tantrum.

So I think she started crying.

On a Sunday in November Germany remembers the dead of wars and oppression. Right wingers regularly call it "Heldengedenken," i.e. heroes memorial, as it was called in the Third Reich.

A notorious march with a few hundred occurs annually in Wunsiedel, the town where Rudolf Heß was buried until the grave was removed because of regular right wing pilgrimages there.

This year, there was an unexpected sponsor. For every meter that a right winger walked, €10.- were donated to "Exit," an organization helping people who want to get out of the Nazi scene. And they told them about it. And cheered them on. And had posters mocking them. And offered them snacks ("Mein Mampf" / my chow). The involuntary fundraiser collected €10,000, meaning that the 250 Nazis walked 400 meters each (not very impressive; no way you make it to Stalingrad like that).

They even gave certificates to the participants:

Turns out last year the Nazis specifically commemorated Erich Priebke, a Hauptsturmführer who had died a month earlier and who had conducted a massacre of 335 Italian prisoners and Jews as a reprisal in 1944.

In fairness the police investigation into historic sex abuse among VIPs have now opened a potential murder inquiry.

But I think reporting beyond that should be very, very careful.

I guess a nice surveillance state would pretty much obviate shitty British tabloids, wouldn't it?  I'm just saying, in case that sweetens the deal.

Why is that, it hasn't happened so far.

One of the stories, is a mother of a down syndrome child, who says multiple members of the Scottish establishment raped her daughter.

Web search for 'down syndrome mother alleges rape by establishment' and you'll see links to all sorts of conspiracy corners, going all the way back to the Satanic child abuse hysteria of 15+ years ago:

I spent all weekend chopping wood.  It was a good weekend.
