Well, less than a week to go and I've finally got round to listening to the UKs song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6r1tUhl1cQ

I don't think I've ever heard a more deserving candidate for a "null points"; my first reaction was a "Thirties song with Fifties décor and the occasional intrusion of Seventies synthesiser sounds." On reflection, I may have some of the decades wrong but it's definitely a mishmash. :hmm:

I can understand why some of our papers don't think we're trying this year. :D

Of course, given my track record with UK songs, this probably means that we'll have our best score for years.

-------------------------

Also, on Australia's participation - if they're there as part of the celebration for sixty years of the tournament shouldn't we have invited one representative from each of the other continents as well?
"Come grow old with me
The Best is yet to be
The last of life for which the first was made."

garbon

I've been invited to two different gatherings for Eurovision viewing. I'm so glad to have my mother visiting as an easy reason to decline. :goodboy:
"I've never been quite sure what the point of a eunuch is, if truth be told. It seems to me they're only men with the useful bits cut off."
I drank because I wanted to drown my sorrows, but now the damned things have learned to swim.

They're there because they're crazy about their Europop, the 60 years anniversary is just an excuse.

"JamenajmenømahrmDÆ!DÆ! Æhvnårvaæhvadlelæh! Hvor er det crazy, det her, mand!" - Uffe Elbæk

I've only heard the Danish song so far, and I'm quite confident that we won't be wasting money hosting the Eurovision 2016.

So, you'll be watching it alone?  :P

There needs to be more alternative music. Whenever some does pop up it wins.

Brazen

I rather enjoyed the UK's song, it's rather catchy. But given we now have zero friends in Europe we don't stand a chance :P

It depends what you mean by alternative music. We don't need another Lordi.

Duque de Bragança

Since Lordi pissed off lots of people it seems, even here, a new Lordi would be actually a good thing. :)

Brazen

I liked Lordi so much I actually went to their gig later that year supported by "battle metal" merchants Turisas

Duque de Bragança

Nothing to be ashamed of Brazen. Quite the contrary. The fact that even a good hard 'n heavy act, not one of the best, was still way better than the usual dancefloor/techno/pop Eurovision stuff, speaks a lot about the musical value of the contest in recent years.
