Think Tamas will hold the game up for three-four days each turn?
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I will do that again middle of next week, but will try to stay up to speed during the weekend.

Meanwhile, -1VP to Ottomans:

Quote#27: 2 / Knights of St. John
If Knights of St. John are on map, not under siege, and connected by 1 sea zone to an Ottoman-controlled port, and Ottoman is not an inactive major power, then either draw and keep 1 random card from Ottoman or drop their piracy VP by 1. OR If Knights of St. John are off map Spain adds Knights counter on its 2-unit side to a Spanish-controlled home port. If Malta is under Spanish control and not under siege, add them there. Otherwise add them to an empty, unfortified Spanish home port and add a fortress to the space.

Message from Holy Roman Empire:
Decrease Ottoman Piracy VP by 1

Habbaku

Dammit.  In my opinion, you definitely picked the correct event on that card.  Way too many people get greedy for a card rather than docking the Ottomans a much-needed VP.

I can't move the VP marker to the VP tray for some reason, so no file.

Ottoman fleet moves into the Ionian Sea.  Did Don John and his fleet wish to intercept?

Ottoman fleet attacks the Spanish in Barbary Coast and plays Tilbury Speech (in Turkish) to assist.

To Sol to resolve.

The speech just barely helps as each side gets in 5 hits. Ottomans lose two galleys and a corsair, Spain two galleys. Ottoman fleet retreats back east.

Habbaku

No, thanks.  The Ottoman fleet retreats into Algiers.

Okay.

Quote#73: 5 / War in Persia
Ottoman player must remove 3 to 8 land units from the map and place them (along with any leaders desired) on this Foreign War card (23.7). Persians start with either 3 or 5 land units (chosen by power playing card). If the higher number, award 1 War Winner to Ottoman when war ends. Add a -1 card marker on Ottoman until war ends.

Message from Spain:
1-4/5: Build 2 galleys in Cagliari
5/5: Move them to Barbary Coast

Berkut up. Spain is still offering a card and a treasure next turn if the Ottoman captain dies mysteriously.

Berkut

A very tempting offer indeed. A card and treasure from the Spanish, and a card from the Ottomans.....

England: Play Card as Event
#76: 2 / Untimely Death [MANDATORY]
Remove any one of these leaders from the game: Piyale Pasha, Don John, Montmorency, Duke of Alva, Santa Cruz, Leicester, or Zrinyi. Card remains in deck each turn.

Message from England:
Don John falls ill and passes away.

Solmyr, you made a more than fair offer. Decided on Habs instead for two reasons:

1. The Treasure Fleet already came, which means the two best treasures are already in your hand, and what is left is likely lower CP, and
2. Overall, a strong Spain is a much larger threat to me in the long run than a stronger Ottomans.

I'll be passing the turn unless something directly affects me.

Tamas

#70: 3 / Tridentine Catechism
Take 8 Catholic Conversion attempts that can affect spaces in any two Religious Struggle Areas (even areas that your power can not usually affect with its actions). The first die is automatically a "6"; the rest are rolled randomly.

QuoteOttoman: Play Card as Event
#48: 3 / Commissioned from Italy
Patronize a specific artist or scientist of your choice from Italy (instead of drawing one from your own pool) as if you spent 3 CP on the Patronize action. Place a control marker of your power underneath the artist or scientist so it is clear which power has commissioned him.

Message from Ottoman:
