Tamas

Technically, not only I am first this round, I should have been first last round. The color of the text only counts when there are two players and the default first player on the event card is not playing.

So sending them to Vinland is permanent, right?

Yes. Unless they die

Not entirely correct.  They can be moved away from Vinland/Markland again as part of your Mariner move, but only if all of them leave at the same time.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

We are sending everyone out to test our new spear trying to harvest that Bowhead whale.

There a file coming for that?

Uploading a file now.

Hunting was fairly successful for everyone except the Norse.  The Harp Seal pup hunt was successful, but will only serve to replace the losses incurred by the Vinland colony (half the colonists died).  The caribou hunt was unsuccessful again this year.

Berkut's whaling efforts proved successful and didn't even incur any losses.  Tamas' success in Markland turned up enough resources to replenish the losses there and keep him well-stocked for the coming seasons.  In addition, he successfully domesticated the Musk Ox.

Over to Tamas for his elder actions, if any.  Norse have none, I believe.

Am I correct in thinking that is actually *possible* to domesticate a whale?

No. Notice that the whale lacks the "D" symbol?  It is only possible to take the whales as trophies (and overhunt them).

Tamas

My elder action is paying one energy to place the Ox to my tableau.

BTW Habs I think you forgot to replace the ox with a new card. You only don't replace when its a trophy thats removed.

I don't think I have anything I can do in the Elder phase.

New event for this coming generation is the "Little Ice Age, Long Winters" card.  Decimation narrowly avoids striking the Thule (Berkut) as he only has 11 unassigned hunters instead of the requisite 12.

Global cooling and elder upkeep both happen.  The Norse use their last energy reserves to keep their Mariner and their Chief.

Over to Berkut and Tamas to pay for their elders.

After that, we have our first auction--Imported Crossbows.
