Given that I spent my university years living in residence on Gerrard and Church streets, in Toronto, an area notorious for prostitutes, I can say I was propositioned many times.

And your attorney has advised you to say nothing more? :hmm:

I got an offer in a Wal Mart parking lot. PASS

But you needed the money. :(

Oh, snap! Post of the month for sure!  :D
It is far better for the truth to tear my flesh to pieces, then for my soul to wander through darkness in eternal damnation.

Jet: So what kind of woman is she? What's Julia like?
Faye: Ordinary. The kind of beautiful, dangerous ordinary that you just can't leave alone.
Jet: I see.
Faye: Like an angel from the underworld. Or a devil from Paradise.

Over-reaction of the month, too.  Relax.
The medievals were only too right in taking nolo episcopari as the best reason a man could give to others for making him a bishop. Give me a king whose chief interest in life is stamps, railways, or race-horses; and who has the power to sack his Vizier (or whatever you care to call him) if he does not like the cut of his trousers.

Government is an abstract noun meaning the art and process of governing and it should be an offence to write it with a capital G or so as to refer to people.

I keep thinking that the thread title is a new Leonard Cohen song, for some reason.  :hmm:

I'm almost certain it's been less than a month since the last post Tim declared "post of the month".  :hmm:

Edit- yes, December 18.  :P

Whores of Montreal by L.Cohen

She wore a velvet lipstick
and her breasts they weren't real
Her brows were dark and thick
She was a whore of Montreal

Her hair was black with red streaks
And her expression said it all
At school she was a Goth freak
She was a whore of Montreal

Nadia, Olga and Natasha
They're really not French at all
But they're full of Slavic passion
These whores of Montreal

From the Rue St. Catherine
To the township of Laval
They say they all live in sin
The whores of Montreal

I've hung out with prostitutes a couple of times, but can't remember ever being propositioned anywhere.

The Minsky Moment

Quote from: Malthus on December 30, 2014, 09:22:07 AM
I've seen this set of mugshots before - from what I recall, it is somewhat misleading, in that the some of the women pictured were charged with "keeping a bawdy house" - that is, as living off the income of prostitutes.

Perhaps these were themselves former prostitutes, but not necessarily how they earned their money when the pics were taken.

And the man from Toronto leaps to defend the honor of Montreal ladies of the evening. Proof that Canada really does work as a nation.
The purpose of studying economics is not to acquire a set of ready-made answers to economic questions, but to learn how to avoid being deceived by economists.

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

I'm embarrassed. I've been making the mistake of associating with you. It won't happen again. :)

I have hung out with prostitutes, for work research.

My clients preferred the terms "escort" or "companion", thank you.  Asses.

^_^  Actually, come to think of it, I even hung out with prostitutes in Montreal, maybe 8 years ago.  At a fast-food restaurant off the main drag where they were cooling their heels (and yes, eating poutine) during a slow period.

In the Church/Gerrard neighbourhood I lived in all those years ago, there was a Harveys (a burger chain) restaurant on the corner. To this day it is affectionately known as Hooker Harveys
